A Nashville Bed and Breakfast for Active Weekends
Some weekends call for movement, not a packed itinerary. If you are looking for a Nashville bed and breakfast that puts you in a walking neighborhood instead of a traffic jam, Sylvan Park is a good place to land. Our historic home at 4511 Elkins Ave sits in the middle of it, with the Richland Creek Greenway nearby and sidewalks that make leaving the car parked feel easy.
Whether you live across town and want a staycation that actually feels like a reset, or you are hosting friends and family who are visiting someone in the neighborhood, an active weekend here is simple to build: walk in the morning, eat well, rest in the afternoon, repeat.
Why a Nashville Bed and Breakfast Suits an Active Weekend
A big hotel tends to point you toward the car. A small inn does the opposite. Sylvan Park is walkable, tree-lined, and just minutes from downtown, so a day on foot can include a stroll through historic streets, a coffee stop, and a long lunch without ever checking a parking app.
We are a boutique boarding house with eight guest suites, all with private bathrooms, which means the place stays quiet and unhurried. That matters when your plan is to wake up early and get outside.
Start With Breakfast, Then Head for the Greenway
Mornings begin with our daily breakfast, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, plus coffee and tea available all day. Fill a mug, sit on the front porch for a few minutes, and then decide how ambitious you want to be.
The Richland Creek Greenway is one of the neighborhood's favorite spots for a walk, a jog, or a slow wander with no particular destination. Pack comfortable shoes, check the weather, and go at your own pace. Fall and early winter are lovely for it, when the air is cool and the trees are doing their best work.
Make a Loop of the Neighborhood
Part of the charm of staying in the Sylvan Park neighborhood is how much is within reach on foot. Depending on the day, you might fold in the Richland Park Farmers Market, a coffee stop, or a longer lunch at one of the local favorites, such as Answer, Lion's Share, Café Nonna, Lola, or Punk Wok.
If you want an easy dinner after a full day outside, Tantísimo, our Latin American café and restaurant, is right through the rear courtyard. Breakfast, brunch, dinner, happy hour, and cocktails are all on the menu, so you can go from boots to a table without getting back in a car.
Rest Is Part of the Plan
An active weekend only works if the recovery is good. Each of our suites is its own space, and each suite is stocked with Frette linens, Peacock Alley down bedding, Grown Alchemist toiletries, robes, and slippers, with climate control to keep things comfortable whatever the season.
There are no televisions in the rooms, on purpose. Wi-Fi is fast and free, but the idea is to let the evening be quiet. After a long walk, a hot shower, a robe, and a good book is hard to beat. When you want company, the front porch, courtyard, yard games, and bocce ball are waiting.
A Simple Active Weekend Plan
Arrive Friday after 4:00 PM, drop your bags, and walk to dinner. On Saturday, take breakfast slowly, spend the morning on the greenway, and wander the neighborhood for lunch. Save the afternoon for the porch or a nap. Sunday can be a final coffee, a short walk, and checkout by 11:00 AM with nothing left to rush.
A few practical notes: ours is a historic two-story home with stairs and no elevator, and pets are not allowed. Our team is happy to help with luggage.
