A Nashville Inn for Sunday Nights and Midweek Stays
The weekend gets all the attention. Friday fills first, Saturday goes next, and by the time most Nashvillians get around to thinking about a night away, the good rooms are spoken for. Which is why the quiet secret of booking a Nashville Inn is the Sunday night, or the Tuesday. An off-peak stay is calmer, easier to plan around, and often more restorative than trying to wedge rest into a crowded weekend.
Sunday Night Is the Most Underrated Night of the Week
Sunday evening has a reputation it does not deserve. It is the night we brace for the week instead of closing out the last one. Spending it somewhere other than your own kitchen changes the whole tenor of it. You are not sorting laundry and half-watching the clock; you are somewhere with a porch, and the week begins with a breakfast someone else made.
The practical case is just as strong. Sunday and midweek nights are when a small house like ours is at its most peaceful, and when the particular suite you have had your eye on is most likely to be free.
A Quieter House, on Purpose
Sylvan Park Boarding House is a 1910 home with eight guest suites, each named, each different, and each with a private ensuite bath. Seven have king beds; the one double-occupancy room has a queen. With only eight rooms, the difference between a full Saturday and a soft Wednesday is something you can actually feel, on the stairs, on the porch, at the breakfast table.
There are no TVs in the rooms. That is intentional, and midweek it lands even better, because there is nothing to stay up for. What you get instead: Frette linens, Peacock Alley down bedding, robes and slippers, Grown Alchemist toiletries, a Dyson hairdryer, a Smeg refrigerator and climate control you set yourself. Free high-speed Wi-Fi runs throughout the house if the week still needs you.
An Evening That Asks Nothing of You
Tantisimo, the Latin American cafe on the property through the rear courtyard, serves dinner, happy hour and cocktails, so a weeknight evening requires no car and no reservation across town. If you would rather stretch your legs, the Sylvan Park neighborhood is flat, tree-lined and genuinely walkable, with Answer, Lion's Share, Cafe Nonna, Lola and Punk Wok all close by. Or claim a rocker on the front porch, lose a round of bocce, and call it a night early.
The Morning Makes the Case
Breakfast is made fresh each morning and locally sourced, with coffee and tea out all day. Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM, which means a midweek stay slots neatly around a workday: arrive after you close the laptop, leave the next morning unhurried. If you have an hour, the Richland Creek Greenway is a short walk and a better start to a Monday than most.
Who an Off-Peak Stay Suits
Locals who want a reset without burning a weekend. Couples whose calendars only agree on a Wednesday. And visiting friends or family, especially the ones coming to see someone who already lives in Sylvan Park, who arrive on a Sunday and would rather not take over a spare room for four nights. As a boutique hotel in Nashville, we are small enough that a midweek arrival tends to feel like the house was opened just for you.
Before You Book
A few honest details: this is a historic two-story home with stairs and no elevator, though our staff is always glad to help with luggage. We are not able to host pets. And because there are only eight suites, even quiet nights fill further out than people expect.
If a Sunday or a midweek night sounds like the escape you have been putting off, we would love to have you. Browse the suites at spboardinghouse.com, email hello@spboardinghouse.com, or call 615-450-3104. We are at 4511 Elkins Ave, and the porch is usually free on a Tuesday.
