Nashville Inn for a Friendsgiving Weekend
Sylvan Park Boarding House is an 8-suite Nashville inn in the Sylvan Park neighborhood, about 4 miles from downtown, and it is a calm place to put friends up for a Nashville inn Friendsgiving weekend. If you are hosting the big potluck yourself, your guest room is probably already spoken for, or your kitchen is already full. A suite down the street solves both.
The house was built in 1910 by J. W. Fryer and served as a boarding house in the 1930s, so welcoming a table's worth of out-of-town friends is something these rooms know how to do.
Why Book a Nashville Bed and Breakfast for Friendsgiving Guests?
Friendsgiving works best when everyone can linger. Nobody is watching the clock for a late drive, nobody is sleeping on a pull-out sofa, and the host is not cleaning a bathroom at midnight. As a Nashville bed and breakfast, we give each friend or couple a private room and a private bath, so the party can last as long as the pie does and everyone still sleeps well.
We lead with the sleep: Frette linens and Peacock Alley down bedding in every suite, with robes and slippers waiting. There are eight suites in all, seven kings and one double queen (The Geny), sleeping up to 18, which means a big friend group can often stay under one roof.
Where Should Out-of-Town Friends Stay Near Sylvan Park?
If your Friendsgiving is at a home in Sylvan Park, Richland Park or elsewhere in West Nashville, staying at the inn keeps everyone close. Our front porch, yard games, bocce ball and shared courtyard give guests room to spread out before and after dinner, and the Elkins Avenue address is a short drive from Vanderbilt, Belle Meade, West End and Green Hills.
Parking is free, so friends driving in for the holiday weekend do not have to hunt for a spot on a crowded street. Staying in a boutique hotel Nashville travelers actually remember is a nice way to make the guests feel looked after, too.
What Does a Friendsgiving Weekend Look Like Here?
Here is an easy shape for the weekend. Friends arrive Friday afternoon (check-in is at 4:00 p.m.), drop their bags, and walk the tree-lined streets of the Sylvan Park neighborhood before the cooking begins.
The morning after the feast, complimentary breakfast for overnight guests is served in the Boarding House lobby from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. daily, alongside coffee and tea. It is a slow, easy way to rehash the night before in robes and slippers, with no one needing to cook.
Next door, just through the rear courtyard, Tantísimo is a separate Latin American café and restaurant for brunch, dinner, happy hour and cocktails, which is handy if one night of the weekend needs a restaurant instead of a kitchen. Check their hours directly before you plan around them.
If your group is large, think about who wants a quiet corner and who wants to be near the action. Couples who turn in early can take a suite at the end of a hall, while night owls can stay up on the porch or in the gathering spaces. Tell us who is coming when you call and we will help match people to rooms.
A Few Practical Notes
This is a historic two-story home, so there are stairs and no elevator, and we are not able to welcome pets. There are no TVs in the rooms by design, which tends to turn into more conversation. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout, and check-out is at 11:00 a.m., leaving time for a leisurely morning.
